Today: A HOT Summer's Day... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

A "HOT" Poem & Some Music:

The air
Hot and
Pregnant with rain
Beneath a hazy sun...
Sparrows
Twitter tales in the pines...
Daisies delicately nod
Agreement...

The day's steamy, sultry flavor is complemented by Didier Malherbe & Loy Ehrlich's album, "An Ambient Voyage to North Africa" (available from hmvdigital.ca).  I listen, while chopping and freezing some fresh vegetables I bought at the farmer's market this morning.  A typical summer Saturday....

Today: Alone with Feelings... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

ALONE & A Poem Sort of...

This morning...
Just me,
Alone
With nothing to do...

A cool,
Misty, grey Sunday...

Some slow, bluesy jazz
On the melancholy side...

Feeling...
Not happy
Not sad
But simply content...

A momentary resting place
In
The eye of the storm
Of
Life's roller-coaster ride...

Today: Stopping & Savoring... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

I Stop & Listen, then Write to Savor...

Yesterday...
For the first time in more than fifty years

For a long time
I stood
Just listening...
To a soft rain falling
Enjoying its music
Feeling gratitude...

Sad to have waited so long
To do just this...

Today: I have a Strange Day... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

Today's - A Mix:

A Strange, Crazy, Mixed-up day...

A violent wind whips through the trees, dislodging anything old and dead which still would cling...

I begin my day...

Listening to unfamiliar music from Vietnam, I discard my answering machine/phone. I have trouble throwing things out; especially things that still work like this phone. It still works, but the battery's dead. After only six years, replacements are unavailable...and even if available would cost more than I paid for the phone with the battery... The replacement service from the phone company came at first, all in French, with instructions I didn't understand. Thankfully this was easily changed to English... I think I've set it up like I want, but it's still to be tested with time and use...

Things working and not working, today come one on top of the other...  Expected things don't arrive, unexpected things do... I've shared how it began, but the day has continued with equally strange flavors emanating forth from each thing I've touched...

The Vietnamese music I listened to:

Le Ca Tru Thai Ha Ensemble - Nord Vietnam
Huong Thanh - Vietnam  Musique du Cai Long
Huong Thanh - Les fleurs du levant
Popular Vietnamese Music - Truong Thi Quynh Hanh

All are available from hmvdigital.ca, so if you're so inclined you can listen to clips...

Today: Bird Song... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

A Beginning & An Ending...

Each evening

Just before night falls,
In the silent darkness,
A solitary robin chirps...
The final notes
Of a day's bird song.

Each morning

With the first, faint glimmers of returning light,
In the silent darkness,
A solitary robin sings...
The first notes
Of a day's choral symphony of bird song.

SPRING!

Today: I enjoy dancing... - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

   Music & Dancing...

Today CBC's French web-radio at: icimusique.ca

genre: Monde - Ame

has played some VERY dance-able, slow, soulful music from around the globe - ranging from Arabia to India to South America to China and everything in between. Some exquisite treasures I've enjoyed!!!  The dancing feels VERY good too, after a week of heavy computer work...

I still  have some computer work to do, but I'm hoping to finish this by the beginning of next week... so I can take a holiday from computer work for awhile and not do more than occasionally write posts here...

Maybe... I'll have to wait to see if a computer holiday is in the cards for me...

Today: A Resonating Chord - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

  Music which resonates...

Today I enjoyed a musical interlude with "Zen Ultra" by Mingo (available on CDBaby.com) ...

A rich sound scape of bell-like notes: rising and falling, increasing and decreasing, appearing and disappearing, with subtle changes in tone and harmony...

Update March 18, 2015:

Today I recognize the chord in me, which resonated so strongly to this music.  The subtle, wave-like, interwoven sounds of this music are very similar to the tiny, inner movements of my own body... It has brought me back to the cranial wave, I so loved working with before...

Today: A Little Music - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

Some Music I enjoyed...

Listening to clips on hmvdigital.ca, I discovered I was into jazz, new age and Indian music today...  I particularly enjoyed the following albums:

Its Called Hang Drum by the Hang Drummer
&
Spirit of Tai Chi  by Sangit Om ( I enjoyed several by this artist, but this was the one I liked best...)
&
Yantra  by Steve Gorn and Badal Roy

Today: A Little Music from Around the World - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

 Some Music...

Again with clips from hmvdigital.ca, today I'm visiting opposite corners of the world... appreciating the contrasts, similarities and how the music feels - inside me....

From The Indian Subcontinent, I listened & danced to:
Desert Slide by Vishwa Mohan Bhatt & Musicians of Rajasthan
then
Bhairavi by Ajay Pohankar (There are MANY others listed accompanying this main artist, but I have trouble with spelling all the foreign names and the album can be found with just this name...)

From Argentina I listened to:

Canciones de Atahualpa Yupanqui by Lidia Borda
Then continued to explore more of Atalhualpa's music in his own voice

Today: A COLD winter & some music - To Fall Like A Drop Of Rain...

Cold...

This winter
So COLD
Even flies
Buzzing at the window
Are welcome...

Some Music to Warm...

I enjoyed listening to clips from the following albums on hmvdigital.ca:

Casa by Ryuichi Sakamoto

&

Foretold in The Language of Dreams by Natacha Atlas
Each seemed "beautiful" in its own way...  Also as they come from different corners of the world, they are quite different in flavor and so I found the contrast between them interesting too...
